Stress management and Homeopathy

Everyday stress has become part of the modern lifestyle. Stress is a normal psychological and physical reaction to the ever increasing demands of life. Stress is the condition when we have to handle more than we are used to. This term is usually applied to emotional pressure on an individual rather than a physical pressure. Some stress is normal and even useful. Stress can help if we need to work hard or react quickly. But if stress happens too often or lasts too long, it can have bad effects.

Sign and Symptoms

In response to stress, our adrenal glands release hormones that prime our body for action by raising blood pressure and heart rates. When we are exposed to long periods of stress, our body gives warning signals that something is wrong. These are some common warning signs and symptoms of stress.

Physical signs: Difficulty sleeping, racing heart, tiredness, weight gain or loss, upset stomach, general aches and pains, clenched jaws, headaches, muscle tension.

Mental signs: Anger, irritability, anxiety, depression, difficulty making decisions, forgetfulness, inability to concentrate, loss of sense of humor, withdrawal from relationships or social situations, feeling powerless, frequent mood swings, loneliness, nervousness, sadness, critical attitude of others.

Stress management

Are our stress coping strategies healthy or unhealthy, helpful or unproductive? Unfortunately, many people cope with stress in ways that compound the problem. Here are some easy ways to cope up with stress.

Adopt a healthy lifestyle: We can increase our resistance to stress by strengthening our physical and mental health.

Exercise regularly: Physical activity plays a key role in reducing and preventing the effects of stress. Make time for at least 30 minutes of exercise, three times per week.

Eat a healthy diet: Well-nourished bodies are better prepared to cope with stress and other mental and physical problems, so be mindful of what you eat.

Reduce caffeine and sugar: By reducing the amount of coffee, soft drinks, chocolate, and sugar snacks in our diet, we will feel more relaxed.

Avoid alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs: Alcohol or drugs may seem to reduce stress and can provide a temporarily and easy escape from stress, but it actually adds to it.

Get enough sleep: Adequate sleep is a key part of healthy lifestyle, and proper sleep can fuels our mind, as well as our body. A good restful sleep also helps to decrease the stress level.

Make time for relaxation: We can reduce stress in your life by nurturing ourselves. If we regularly make time for fun and relaxation, we will be in a better place to handle life’s stressors when they inevitably come.

The Homeopathic Approach to Stress

Homeopathy has long been used to relieve mental and emotional disorders, including stress and anxiety.  Homeopathy is a natural healing system and it cures the illness from its root. Stress is a underlying cause of mental and emotional disturbance.

What a Homeopath can do for you: An experienced homeopath select a remedy which is based upon the peculiar symptoms of the individual because every individual reacts to stress differently, that's why every individual needs different and particular remedy according to his/her individual condition.
